Now in its 30th year, the Saint Charles festival is based on the German Oktoberfest holiday, believed to have begun in 1810 as a wedding celebration for Prince Ludwig I and Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen. The event drew a crowd of well over 50,000 from across the state and beyond.
