MyWay Mobile Storage Sponsors In-part Clear Your Clutter Day 2014
The fourth annual Clear Your Clutter Day was held Saturday April 26th at Harford Community College in Bel Air, MD. The event was coordinated by Harford Community College and Sappari Solutions, a Harford county professional organizing company. In coordination with Earth Day, from 10AM – 2PM, Harford county residents were able to drop off household items in attempts to clear their clutter in an environmentally responsible fashion.
Many local organizations offered their services at the event, recycling companies, junk removal specialists, goodwill organizations and on-site document shredding. Some of the items that were dropped off from residents included; scrap metals, appliances, old grills, TVs, cardboard boxes, clothing, toys, household goods, cell phones, eye glasses, tools, monitors and other assorted electronics.
According to Nettie Owens, Owner of Sappari Solutions and event coordinator of Clear Your Clutter Day, 500 vehicles attended this year’s event, up from 380 just last year. For a $5 fee, loaded cars and trucks could unload their unwanted clutter with the help of volunteers from Mountain Christian Church. The event collected over 11,000 pounds of paper to be shredded, 4,000 more than last year. Along with the paper shredding, the final count of recyclable and reusable materials were as follows: 3.5 tons of miscellaneous electronics, 12,600 pounds of scrap metal, 104 cell phones, 75 boxes of books, 200 pairs of eyeglasses and 100 purses. Goodwill filled one 52-foot trailer with clothing and other usable items.
Owens said, “MyWay Mobile Storage once again supported the 2014 Clear Your Clutter Day event at Harford Community College by providing a mobile unit. They were very easy to work with prompt and courteous. Steve had a unit delivered the night before the event which we used as our ‘command center’ for the day of the event. All the volunteers were able to easily recognize the unit as our meeting point and we were able to store items away from wind and rain, which we thankfully had none of! The unit housed our first aid kit, volunteer check in, various supplies, coats, and more! It was great and more spacious than I expected. Thank you for helping us make Clear Your Clutter Day 2014 a success!”
All sponsorship proceeds were donated to local non-profit Habitat for Humanity Susquehanna, cash donations were also collected at the event.
