MyWay Mobile Storage Donates Portable Storage Unit to Baltimore Relay for Life for Second Consecutive Year
The American Cancer Society held their annual Relay for Life event on the campus of University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) on Friday, April 26, 2013. This year’s Relay for Life included 40 teams with 385 participants, totaling over $31,000 in donations. MyWay Mobile Storage was honored to support the UMBC Relay for Life for the second consecutive year by donating a storage container to assist with event coordination.
“Our thanks to MyWay Mobile Storage for donating the storage container to the Relay for Life of UMBC,” said Jackie Bowes, the American Cancer Society’s event coordinator. “It was so easy for us to load our materials the night before and limit the amount of trips we needed to take. We used the container to store all of our extra materials throughout the event and to keep us organized.”
The Relay for Life began at 6 p.m., with the setting sun signifying the coming of cancer. Volunteers and supporters walk and run throughout the night because, according to Bowes, “Cancer doesn’t sleep and neither should we.” The rising sun represents the dawn of hope.
“The container allowed us to keep valuable items in a safe environment,” said Bowes. “We are so thankful for the generosity of MyWay Mobile Storage and will definitely be using them again in the future!”
In addition to the Relay for Life event held at UMBC, MyWay Mobile Storage is donating three of their portable storage units for the fifth consecutive year to the Arnold/Annapolis Relay for Life. The event is being held on Friday, May 17, 2013 at the Anne Arundel Fairgrounds in Crownsville, Maryland and also at the Relay CCBC in Catonsville on June 8, 2013.
