2018 Special Olympics of Maryland

Baltimore, Maryland. The Special Olympics of Maryland (SOMD) and MyWay Mobile Storage of Baltimore have partnered together for the past 10 years. “It is wonderful to have donated our portable storage unit for such a worthy cause,” said Steve Hudson, Operations Manager of MyWay Mobile Storage of Baltimore. The 2018 Fall Sports Fest was held at the scenic Mount St Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, MD as well as the Fort Ritchie complex in Fort Ritchie, MD. Melissa Kelly, Senior Director of School Sports Program Development said, “Special Olympics Maryland’s annual Fall Sports Festival brought together hundreds of athletes from across the state on Saturday, October 20, 2018. Athletes competed in six different sports; Flag Football, Long Distance Running, Powerlifting, Tennis, and Cycling. The competitions were held at Mount St. Mary’s University and Fort Ritchie Community Center, both providing excellent venues for our athletes to play.” MyWay Mobile Storage of Baltimore provided four portable storage units to the locations which were loaded with all of the necessary equipment needed for the event, transported from their office in South Baltimore to the festival venues.

The daylong event which primarily took place at the Athletic complex on the beautiful, scenic campus of Mount St. Mary’s University that included 400 athletes, 70 coaches, 50 partners and 250 volunteers.

In addition to the Fall Sports Festival, MyWay Mobile Storage of Baltimore also donated two portable storage units to the 2018 Interscholastic Unified Tennis State Tournament which took place at Loyola University in North Baltimore at the Ridley Athletic Center. The competition took place on Wednesday November 7th, where approximately 175 student athletes competed from the various counties in Maryland.
